We were really happy to welcome Ian Phillips to the workshop last weekend.
Ian is one of Wales’s foremost linocut artists. He has exhibited widely in the UK and abroad over the last 10 years. In 2010, Ian was made a member of the Royal Cambrian Academy. Needless to say it was a fully booked course.
Ian’s work is predominantly landscapes inspired by walks in the countryside where he lives in Wales but also taken from places as far afield as Australia. He only works in reduction lino which feature his signature ‘blended’ colours and evoke traditional Japanese woodcuts
It’s always great to see how another printmaker works and to learn new tips and tricks and the students went away at the end of a brilliant course with an edition of beautiful images.
If you are interested in learning more about linocutting why not try our 5 week Linocuts course 1 – 29 July. Find out more at http://www.redhotpress.org.uk/courses/single-technique/linocuts-wednesdays.php
